Power Corrupts

The more that you love someone
The more they wield power over you
If you love more then they do
Their pedestal will tower over you
For most, looking down upon people
Develops delusions of grandeur
Over time it spreads thru ones soul
Eating the good between 2 like a cancer
So dont just give give and give
You better make sure that you take
And no its not being selfish
Its just self-respect cant be faked
Never let anyone ever believe
That you couldnt live without them
Whether your mother or your lover
Let a small part of you doubt them
If you feel sure of someone else
Then thats straight tempting the fates
To tear your heart from your chest
At light speed or other exceptional rates
